Vietnam authorities issue guidance on lost license plates and straw burning risks
The Hai Phong Traffic Police Department has released a detailed guide for citizens regarding lost, damaged, or obscured vehicle license plates. To avoid administrative penalties, authorities advise against using self-made or unofficial plates. The recommended procedure involves reporting the loss to local commune or ward police to prevent criminal misuse, followed by applying for a replacement through the National Public Service Portal or the Ministry of Public Security's public service portal.
Separately, in Ninh Binh province, the burning of straw stubble following rice harvests along the Nam Dinh – Lac Quan coastal road is creating thick smoke that obscures driver visibility. This practice poses significant traffic safety risks on the high-speed, eight-lane highway. Local authorities have previously issued decisions to implement measures to mitigate and manage the burning of straw and the drying of paddy to reduce environmental pollution and road hazards.
