Vietnam authorities seize illegal Mid-Autumn Festival goods

Authorities in Vietnam have intensified inspections of food and consumer goods ahead of the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival, resulting in the seizure and destruction of numerous non-compliant products.

In Hanoi, Market Surveillance Team No. 2 reported that eight inspections led to fines totaling 47 million VND and the destruction of over 55 million VND worth of goods. The confiscated items included 579 children's toys and 871 confectionery products and mooncakes. Officials stated these measures aim to prevent the sale of counterfeit or unsafe goods during the high-demand holiday period.

In Bac Ninh province, police in Vo Cuong Ward discovered 1,360 kg of animal products, including chicken and duck parts, of unknown origin at a private residence. Following an investigation, authorities issued an administrative fine of 24.5 million VND and ordered the destruction of the undocumented food items.
