Vietnam auto market offers Kia discounts as recalls surge past 30,000

Kia Vietnam announced a July 2026 promotion that gives buyers discounts of up to VND 70 million on premium models such as the New Carnival, New Sorento and New Sportage, with lower‑value rebates for the Sonet, Seltos, Carens and other line‑up. The offers are available nationwide through Kia dealers and are paired with test‑drive events and hybrid‑vehicle showcases to boost sales amid heightened competition from other brands.

In the first half of 2026, Vietnamese vehicle manufacturers and distributors carried out 26 recall campaigns affecting more than 30,000 cars—a 14.6 % increase from the same period in 2025. Over half of the recalls were linked to software faults in driver‑assist and infotainment systems. Ford led the recall count with 3,680 vehicles, including several electric models, while Toyota and Nissan also issued multiple recalls. The rise highlights growing challenges as newer cars incorporate more advanced technology.
