SUV sales dominate Vietnam automotive market in 2026
High-riding vehicles are dominating the Vietnamese automotive market. Data from the first seven months of 2026 shows that SUVs and crossovers are significantly outperforming sedans and low-profile cars.
In the 7-seater body-on-frame SUV segment, the Ford Everest holds a commanding lead. In July 2026, the Everest accounted for 849 units, representing over 81% of the segment's total sales. For the first seven months of the year, the Everest reached approximately 6,950 units, capturing nearly 86% of the segment's total volume. Its primary competitors, including the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu mu-X, and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, combined for significantly lower sales.
Broadly across the market, the Mazda CX-5 has emerged as a top performer in the 900 million to 1.1 billion VND price range, with nearly 10,000 units sold in the first seven months of 2026. Other notable models benefiting from the shift toward high-clearance vehicles include the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V, and the hybrid Toyota Innova Cross HEV.
