Vietnam aviation authorities enter 24/24h standby for Typhoon Saudel

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued an urgent directive requiring all relevant aviation agencies and units to maintain 24/24h standby status to respond to Typhoon Saudel (Storm No. 5).

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Van Don International Airport have been instructed to closely monitor storm developments and forecast reports to update response plans according to local conditions. These entities must prepare personnel, vehicles, and materials for potential rescue and relief operations. Additionally, airports are required to inspect infrastructure, drainage systems, communication networks, and ongoing construction sites to mitigate risks of flooding, landslides, or safety hazards.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) has been directed to enhance the quality of aviation meteorological services, ensuring continuous weather monitoring and the timely provision of observation and warning reports. Airlines and flight support service providers are also urged to coordinate closely and monitor storm movements and subsequent heavy rainfall to proactively adjust flight plans and schedules to ensure the safety of passengers, vehicles, and equipment.
