Vietnam aviation market projected to grow 13% in 2026
Vietnam's aviation market is projected to grow by 13% in 2026, maintaining double-digit growth despite challenges such as fuel price volatility, geopolitical conflicts, and global supply chain disruptions.
According to a report from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the first nine months of 2026 saw approximately 70.5 million passengers, a 12.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Air cargo volume reached roughly 1.3 million tons, up 13%. During the National Day holiday period, airlines transported about 1.2 million passengers.
To meet rising demand, carriers including Vietjet, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, and Vietravel Airlines are planning to expand their fleets through new purchases and leases. The Civil Aviation Authority is supporting these efforts by streamlining business licenses, assisting with aircraft acquisition, and coordinating airport slots. International cooperation is also expanding with partners in ASEAN, the UK, India, Canada, Russia, and Turkey. Full-year projections suggest the market could reach 94 million passengers and over 1.6 million tons of cargo.
