Vietnam's economy showed strong performance in the first nine months of 2026, with total social investment capital increasing by 15.1% compared to the same period last year.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) saw significant growth, with registered capital reaching $50.36 billion, a 76.4% increase year-on-year. Realized FDI reached $21.07 billion, marking the highest level for a nine-month period in five years. The manufacturing and processing sector remains the primary driver, accounting for $17.40 billion, or 82.6% of realized FDI.

In Ho Chi Minh City, FDI inflows reached a record $17.2 billion during this period, nearly 60% of the annual target. The city is also seeing an influx of international talent, with an estimated 168,000 foreigners residing there, though officials are working to improve administrative procedures and urban services to retain high-quality human resources.
