Vietnam banks launch 408 trillion VND credit packages for SMEs

Twelve commercial banks in Vietnam have registered to participate in a credit program aimed at supporting economic growth drivers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The total scale of the credit packages is approximately 408 trillion VND.

Of the participating institutions, four state-owned commercial banks have officially registered with the State Bank of Vietnam, providing a total of 220 trillion VND. An additional eight joint-stock commercial banks have announced their participation with a combined total of approximately 188 trillion VND.

The initiative follows a directive from the State Bank of Vietnam issued on August 7, 2026, which urged commercial banks to develop suitable credit products and programs, including preferential interest rates and fees, to help businesses access capital. Experts suggest that timely disbursement of these funds could help SMEs overcome capital bottlenecks, allowing for increased investment in production, business operations, and science and technology.
