VietinBank projected to earn nearly 15,000 billion dong profit in Q2 2026
A survey of online deposit rates on 22 June showed Vietnamese banks split into distinct tiers. Some banks listed rates above 7 % per annum, while state‑owned banks such as Agribank, BIDV, Vietcombank and VietinBank kept stable rates around 6.8 %.
A securities firm forecast bank earnings for the second quarter of 2026. MSB is expected to post the fastest profit growth at +48 %, but VietinBank could lead the sector in profit size with an estimated pre‑tax profit of about 15 000 billion dong. Other banks anticipate solid gains: MBBank (+18 %), VPBank (+25 %), and HDBank (+18 %). The forecasts cite strong credit growth, improving asset quality and reduced provisioning pressures as key drivers.
These developments indicate a differentiated outlook for Vietnam’s banking industry, with high‑yield deposit products influencing consumer choices and profit forecasts shaping investor expectations.
