Vietnam banks roll out cross‑border QR payment services

Vietcombank has revised the terms and conditions for its electronic banking service, clarifying and expanding the rules for QR‑code outbound payments made abroad. The new provisions, which will take effect on 8 June 2026, set out that payments are converted to Vietnamese đồng at the bank’s rate and list prohibited uses such as gambling, money‑laundering and sanction‑ed activities. The bank also reserves the right to suspend or refuse service if suspicious activity is detected.

TPBank announced a breakthrough QR‑code solution that enables merchants and small businesses in Vietnam to receive direct payments from visitors from more than 38 countries. Integrated with NAPAS and UnionPay and compatible with over 200 international banking apps, the system supports Apple Pay, Google Pay and other digital wallets. Officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and the Governor of the State Bank, praised the rollout as a step toward deeper digital integration of Vietnam’s commerce.
