Vietnam boosts diamond imports and pangasius exports amid expanding trade

Vietnam’s diamond imports reached a total value of about $241.2 million in 2025, with India supplying the largest share at roughly 45% of the total. Belgium and Botswana followed with $51.7 million and $22.3 million respectively, while smaller volumes came from the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Mauritius, China, Israel, Thailand and Canada. In the first half of 2026, imports continued at a strong pace, totaling $121.5 million, again led by India ($63.2 million), Belgium ($17.9 million) and Israel ($9.1 million).

In parallel, Vietnam’s pangasius (catfish) exports showed robust growth. In May 2026, shipments to Saudi Arabia were valued at $5 million, a 69% increase year‑on‑year, and the cumulative five‑month total reached $18 million, up 28%. Exports to Colombia also rose, with May shipments of $4 million (up 24%) and a five‑month total of $24 million (up 48%). The dominant product remains frozen fillets, accounting for about 77% of Saudi sales, while frozen whole or split fish make up the remainder.
