Vietnam brokers facilitate expensive stem cell treatments in Japan

An investigation has uncovered a network of brokers in Vietnam facilitating expensive stem cell therapy treatments in Japan. These services are marketed under the guise of longevity and body regeneration, with treatment courses costing approximately $52,000 (over 1.2 billion VND).

Because stem cell treatment services are not yet licensed for implementation in Vietnam, clinics such as the Helene Viet Nhat Clinic in Hanoi act as intermediaries. They provide consultations in Vietnam and then arrange for clients to travel to Japan for blood sampling, cell cultivation, and intravenous infusion. Clients are often required to pay deposits of around $5,000 to cover visas, translation, and logistics.

Authorities have already taken action against some entities. The Hanoi Department of Health fined Kamily Co., Ltd. 267 million VND and suspended the operating license of its affiliated clinic for six months due to illegal stem cell advertising. Experts note that the legal status, clinical efficacy, and safety of these stem cell procedures remain unverified.
