Vietnam accelerates national digital transformation initiatives
Vietnam is accelerating its national digital transformation through various regional and sectoral initiatives. In Northern Vietnam, the National Electronic Authentication Center is promoting the expansion of digital signatures and trusted services to facilitate secure electronic transactions for businesses and citizens. As of August 2026, the country has reached over 33.6 million digital certificates, representing approximately 48.65% of the adult population.
Local governments are implementing grassroots digital strategies. Hà Tĩnh is focusing on data cleaning and digital skills training, while Hoàn Kiếm (Hà Nội) has established digital residential groups to enhance interaction between authorities and citizens. In Cần Thơ, the focus is on creating a unified digital ecosystem to avoid fragmented local systems.
Economic and administrative sectors are also undergoing shifts. The State Treasury is moving toward data-driven management and digitized processes. Tax authorities are working to automate VAT refunds and improve management of e-commerce through identity verification and data sharing. Additionally, digital tools like livestreaming are being utilized by agricultural cooperatives to expand market reach for local products.
