Vietnam calls for strategic technology research proposals

Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology has issued a call for proposals regarding strategic technology research and development. Under a national science, technology, and innovation program, businesses, research institutes, universities, and individuals are invited to submit proposals by September 30. These tasks aim to develop technologies and products listed in the government’s strategic technology categories.

In a related development, Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan emphasized the critical role of mathematics as a foundational capability for these strategic technologies. During a meeting with the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, the Minister outlined a vision for the Institute to become a premier national center for basic research and a hub for scientific talent. The goal is to establish strong research groups that can achieve high international recognition and lead specific research areas in Asia by 2035, with a long-term vision extending to 2045.
