Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Writing Competition Launched
The Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City has launched a writing competition aimed at preserving memories of the solidarity and bond between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Chairman of the association, stated that the campaign seeks to document historical accounts of mutual support. The initiative specifically focuses on stories from various periods, with a particular emphasis on the years 1979–1989, when Vietnamese volunteers and experts assisted Cambodia in overcoming post-war consequences and stabilizing the country following the fall of the Pol Pot regime.
The competition encourages participants to record authentic stories reflecting both the assistance provided by Vietnam and the support received from the Cambodian people. Organizers noted that source material can be found through former volunteers, experts, and local residents, particularly those living in border areas who witnessed these historical interactions.
