Vietnam central exchange rate rises as USD faces global pressure
The State Bank of Vietnam has set the central exchange rate for the Vietnamese Dong against the US Dollar at 25,611 VND, marking a 6 VND increase. Under the current +/-5% fluctuation margin, the ceiling rate is 25,892 VND and the floor rate is 24,330 VND.
In the commercial banking sector, major institutions including Vietcombank, BIDV, VietinBank, and Agribank have reported various USD trading rates. While the central rate rose, some commercial banks noted slight decreases in their specific buying and selling quotes compared to previous sessions.
On the global stage, the US Dollar Index (DXY) has been fluctuating around the 99-point mark. The greenback has faced pressure due to market speculation regarding potential interest rate hikes by the Bank of Japan. Meanwhile, attention in the US market is shifting toward upcoming economic data, including consumer inflation expectations and weekly employment reports, as the Federal Reserve continues its efforts to manage inflation.
