Vietnam cities implement new traffic management schemes

Major cities in Vietnam are implementing new traffic management schemes to combat congestion. In Hanoi, the Department of Construction has introduced a new organization plan at the To Huu - Trung Thu - Trung Van intersection. Under the new rules, cars are prohibited from driving straight from Trung Thu Street to Trung Van Street during peak hours and must instead turn right onto To Huu Street to perform a U-turn.

Despite the installation of prohibitory signs, some drivers have continued to follow old routes, leading to concerns regarding compliance and safety. Authorities plan to coordinate with traffic police to monitor and penalize violations while evaluating the impact on traffic flow.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Loi 2 Bridge on Pham Van Dong Street has implemented time-based lane allocation. During peak hours (6:00–9:00 and 16:00–20:00), the second lane from the pedestrian sidewalk is reserved for motorcycles and three-wheeled vehicles. Outside of these hours, the lane is designated for cars and passenger vehicles under 16 seats. Residents have suggested that increasing traffic regulation personnel and adjusting traffic light cycles could further improve the effectiveness of these new measures.
