Vietnam Competition Authority fines multiple firms for unfair practices and multilevel marketing violations
The Vietnam Competition Authority and the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced a series of administrative penalties in 2025 for violations of competition law and multilevel marketing regulations. Twelve unfair‑competition cases across sectors such as gold retail, logistics, consumer electronics and health care resulted in fines totaling about VND 2.4 billion. Notable penalties included VND 200 million each for Saigon Joint‑Stock Company – Gold‑Silver‑Gem (SJC), Bao Tin Minh Chau, TikiNow Smart Logistics, J&T Express, SPX Express and Giao Hang Nhanh for providing misleading information to attract customers.
In the multilevel‑marketing segment, six companies were fined a combined VND 1.31 billion for failures to register activities, inadequately monitor participants, and breach reporting and training requirements. The highest fine, VND 455 million, was imposed on Seacret, followed by Mỹ Lợi (VND 265 million) and Best World Vietnam (VND 190 million). The authority also recorded 14,800 consumer‑complaint calls in 2025, with e‑commerce complaints comprising the largest share. A total of 896 consumer‑complaint letters were processed, prompting corrective orders and public disclosures by the fined firms.
