Vietnam connects ethnic minority data to National Data Center

Vietnam has successfully connected data regarding its 53 ethnic minority groups and regional classifications to the National Data Center. As of September 28, 2026, the platform has updated information for 15 provinces, 1,514 communes, and 34,084 villages within ethnic minority and mountainous areas, including 13,205 villages classified as particularly difficult.

This initiative marks the first phase in developing specialized databases for ethnic and religious affairs. Alongside the ethnic minority data, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs has completed the synchronization of the religious category data list. The Digital Transformation Center of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Religion is currently reviewing data quality and supporting local authorities with data entry and digital signatures.

To ensure security before official operation, the connection and cross-checking with the national population database and VNeID will be coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security. Relevant units are required to complete data transfers to the Ministry of Public Security by November 20, 2026, to facilitate the official launch of the system.
