Vietnam consumers increasingly purchase bulky goods online
Vietnamese consumers are increasingly purchasing bulky and heavy items through e-commerce platforms, particularly during the back-to-school season. While traditionally difficult to buy online due to size, weight, and shipping costs, improvements in logistics and delivery policies are shifting consumer habits.
Families are now using online applications to purchase large items such as desks, beds, wardrobes, and sofas to prepare for the new school year or student relocations. Shopee reported that the average daily number of orders for bulky goods in the first half of 2026 nearly doubled compared to the same period the previous year. Furthermore, Mordor Intelligence forecasts that online sales will be one of the fastest-growing distribution channels for furniture in Vietnam, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 13.35% through 2031.
