Vietnam retail demand rises amid holidays and Mid-Autumn Festival
Vietnam is experiencing a surge in consumer activity driven by the National Day holiday and the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Retailers such as WinMart and MM Mega Market have proactively increased supply, with some fresh food categories seeing production increases of 130% to 200% to meet demand.
On e-commerce platforms like Shopee, interest in Mid-Autumn Festival products has spiked, with mooncake orders doubling compared to the previous year. While this early seasonal demand allows brands to plan production more effectively, consumers are cautioned to be wary of extremely low-priced, ‘handmade’ mooncakes sold on social media and e-commerce sites that lack clear information regarding ingredients, origins, and expiration dates.
In Hanoi, retail sales and consumer service revenue for the first eight months of the year rose by 16.3% compared to the same period last year, reflecting a positive trend heading into the final months of the year.
