Vietnam converts former district offices into schools and pilots a socialist integrated school

In Ho Chi Minh City, the former district offices of District 12 and Tan Phú are being rapidly renovated into schools. The District 12 building, covering over 3.2 ha, will become the Lê Thị Riêng multi‑level school, while the Tan Phú site (about 13,000 m²) will be turned into Thoại Ngọc Hầu high school. Work ordered by the city government aims to finish before 30 August 2026 so the schools can open for the 2026‑27 academic year, part of a plan to convert surplus public properties into education, health and cultural facilities.

In Quang Ninh province, officials announced a pilot integrated “socialist school” that will combine primary, secondary and high‑school levels. The school is expected to start operating in the 2027‑28 school year and is designed as a model for comprehensive, values‑based education, featuring modern governance, digital transformation, and a focus on patriotism and cultural heritage. Provincial leaders plan to select a site and begin construction in 2026.
