Vietnam crab exports reach $231 million in first eight months of 2026

Vietnam's crab exports have seen significant growth, reaching $231 million in the first eight months of 2026, a 27% increase compared to the same period in 2025. In August 2026 alone, monthly export value hit $41 million, up 53% year-on-year.

China remains the dominant market, accounting for $146 million in exports, or approximately 63% of the total value. When including Hong Kong, the Chinese market share rises to roughly 64%. While Japan remains the second-largest market at $53 million (a 15% decrease), the United States has emerged as the third-largest market, with exports surging 250% year-on-year to reach $24 million.

Other markets such as Singapore, Taiwan, Canada, and Hong Kong also reported positive growth, though they represent smaller shares of the total volume. Experts note that while the rapid growth in the U.S. is a positive sign, the heavy reliance on the Chinese market leaves the industry vulnerable to changes in Chinese import policies and demand.
