Vietnam crackdown seizes fake watches and tightens e‑commerce rules

Da Nang police conducted simultaneous raids on eight watch‑selling establishments, confiscating more than 442 timepieces that lacked proof of legal origin. Among the seized items were 166 units bearing protected brands such as Gucci, Rolex and Omega, which authorities suspect are counterfeit.

Starting 1 July, Vietnam’s new E‑commerce Law obliges online platforms to verify sellers, remove illegal or counterfeit listings and report violations to authorities. The legislation bans the sale of fake, pirated or improperly sourced goods and requires platforms to publish clear operating conditions and dispute‑resolution procedures.
