Vietnam customs departments accelerate digital transformation

Customs departments in Vietnam are intensifying digital transformation efforts to modernize business processes and improve service quality for import-export enterprises.

Customs Region VIII is implementing a pilot program for document digitization starting October 15, 2026. This initiative aims to transition from traditional paper-based handling to digital workflows, reducing manual tasks and the circulation of physical documents. The move is part of a broader effort to establish digital and smart customs models while supporting Quang Ninh province's goals for 2026.

Simultaneously, Customs Region XII has launched a competition focused on reform and digital transformation. The initiative encourages innovative solutions, such as using artificial intelligence to assist in verifying signatures on certificates of origin. These technological advancements are intended to simplify administrative procedures, increase transparency, and reduce time and costs for businesses.
