Vietnam customs fast‑track durian exports

The Vietnam Customs Department issued an urgent directive to ensure same‑day clearance of durian and other agricultural exports. Customs offices are required to process shipments outside regular hours, including holidays, and to resolve any procedural issues immediately. The directive also calls for close coordination with Chinese border customs to address cross‑border bottlenecks and to inform exporters of any policy changes.

The measure follows concerns that durian shipments face delays due to permits, packing, and inspection requirements. Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung ordered swift removal of obstacles, emphasizing that any actions delaying clearance will be prohibited. Agricultural exports contributed about US$35 billion in the first half of the year, making timely export of perishable goods such as durian a priority for the economy.
