Vietnam Customs pilots VNeID authentication for small-value goods

Vietnam Customs is piloting a new authentication process for small-value goods declarations using the VNeID national population database. This initiative is part of a broader digital transformation strategy to modernize customs procedures and enhance administrative efficiency.

During a recent briefing, Customs Director Nguyen Van Tho emphasized the importance of restructuring procedures based on data to facilitate trade. The agency is currently adjusting its IT system projects to implement a “digital customs” model.

Between January 1 and August 20, the agency processed over 85.7 million dossiers, with more than 85.7 million submitted online. Additionally, the agency is working to expand pilot models for centralized customs clearance at several regional customs branches.
