Vietnam delays bridge works and housing relocations amid safety concerns

In Thai Nguyen province, several bridge projects—including the Dà Mài bridge worth 99.4 billion VND—are stalled because access roads and land acquisition have not been completed. Although the bridge structures were finished by early 2026, the connecting roads remain missing, leaving a "bridge stub" and forcing residents to use older, unsafe crossings. Officials say the land will be cleared by 9 June 2026 and aim to finish the works by 30 September 2026, a delay of about nine months.

In Da Nang, the city government is preparing to relocate families from three dilapidated public‑housing complexes (Hòa Minh, Lâm Đặc Sản Hòa Cường and Thuận Phước) before the upcoming rainy season. All buildings have been rated dangerous (C‑level). A relocation plan approved by the city council provides more than 36.3 billion VND in funding, temporary housing in new dormitories, and compensation of 7.5‑10 million VND per household.
