Vietnam Deploys Rescue Team to Earthquake‑Stricken Venezuela

Vietnam dispatched an 82‑person military rescue contingent, including a Border Guard unit with 10 personnel and eight trained search dogs, to assist search‑and‑rescue operations after the deadly earthquake that struck Venezuela. The quake has caused at least 1,719 deaths, more than 5,000 injuries and tens of thousands of evacuations, prompting 30 countries to send aid.

The Vietnamese team arrived at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía after a 22‑hour flight, coordinated by the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defence and the Vietnamese embassy. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto thanked the delegation, highlighting the solidarity and humanitarian spirit of Vietnam. This mission marks Vietnam’s third overseas military deployment for international disaster response, underscoring its proactive foreign‑policy stance in humanitarian crises.
