Vietnam Deputy PM addresses business hurdles in land and environment

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung chaired a meeting on August 12 to address difficulties faced by businesses regarding land, environment, mineral extraction, and raw materials. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that administrative procedures must not be replaced by other forms of bureaucracy and stressed that failing to unlock resources will directly impact national growth targets.

Key proposals from business associations include establishing a single point of contact for interconnected administrative procedures to reduce the need for companies to work with multiple departments. Additionally, representatives from the seafood industry requested extensions for land use terms for large-scale agricultural and aquaculture projects, noting that current 20-year terms are insufficient given the high capital and infrastructure investment required.

Regarding environmental assessments, businesses requested that results previously approved by central ministries be inherited by local authorities to avoid redundant procedures. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported that it has addressed 18 groups of petitions related to its management functions.
