Vietnam advances national initiatives in defense, energy, and martyr identification
Vietnam is undertaking several significant national initiatives across defense, energy, and social welfare. In a major humanitarian effort, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra is overseeing the DNA testing of 18,000 sets of martyr remains as part of a ‘500-day campaign’. While technology like NGS-SNP is being deployed to handle highly decomposed samples, authorities noted that human resources and equipment currently face challenges in meeting the high volume of samples.
In the energy sector, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc met with Vietnam Electricity (EVN), emphasizing its role in national energy security. The government aims to restructure EVN into a major global economic group by 2030, targeting a position within the top 500 largest enterprises worldwide.
Defense and political developments include the National Defense Academy focusing on strategic military advisory roles amidst complex regional security challenges. Additionally, General Secretary and President To Lam met with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, urging a shift from merely establishing international relations to building substantive, effective networks that serve national development. Other domestic activities include the training of security leadership for international environments and the implementation of Party directives regarding ethical leadership and regional economic restructuring.
