Vietnam Deputy PM orders resolution of intellectual property valuation bottlenecks
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung has directed the Ministry of Science and Technology to urgently review and resolve bottlenecks regarding the valuation of intellectual property rights and the development of the science and technology market in Vietnam.
During a recent meeting involving various ministries and academic institutions, officials identified several systemic limitations. These include a limited supply of technology from research institutes and universities, low commercialization rates for research results, and insufficient participation from businesses in research and development processes.
Key challenges highlighted include unclear mechanisms for managing assets derived from state-funded science and technology tasks—specifically the distinction between public and private assets—as well as a lack of reference databases for intellectual property valuation. Additionally, the infrastructure, data, and human resources for science and technology exchanges remain inadequate, hindering the connection between supply and demand.
