Former Bạc Liêu Chairman Dương Thành Trung Charged Over Land Compensation Violations
Vietnam’s Cà Mau police have charged 65‑year‑old Dương Thành Trung, the former chairman of the People’s Council of Bạc Liêu province, with violating regulations on compensation, support and resettlement related to state‑owned land seizures. He was placed under external monitoring (cho tại ngoại) while investigations continue.
The Central Party Inspection Committee concluded that Trung’s actions constituted serious political, ethical and legal breaches, severely harming the reputation of the Party and local authorities. Based on these findings, the Committee recommended disciplinary action against him, and the provincial People’s Procuracy approved the charge to proceed with prosecution.
