VNeID updates with new features and plans for electronic land certificates

Vietnam's national electronic identification application, VNeID, has released version 2.2.12, introducing several new digital features. The update includes the integration of electronic health records, vehicle registration documents, and digital signature services (VNeID CA). It also allows for the modification of representatives for electronic identity accounts belonging to individuals under 14 years old, and expands the types of information provided to state agencies to include birth certificates, marriage certificates, and academic diplomas.

In a separate development regarding digital land management, the Land Management Department is working toward integrating electronic land use rights certificates into the VNeID app. Currently, over 47.7 million land parcels have ready data, though approximately 20.5 million parcels still require data completion.

While the technical templates for these electronic certificates have been drafted and discussed with the Ministry of Public Security, an official launch date has not been set. Implementation depends on finalizing legal frameworks within the amended Land Law to ensure electronic certificates hold the same legal validity as physical ones, as well as restructuring administrative procedures to support fully digital processes.
