Vietnam directs new policies for large-scale school management

The Government Office of Vietnam has issued Notice No. 523 regarding conclusions made by Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau concerning the restructuring of preschool and general education institutions.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been tasked with researching and proposing appropriate policies for management personnel at large-scale educational facilities that include multiple grade levels, branches, or school sites. This includes addressing the needs of staff whose positions may be affected by restructuring, such as those seeking retirement, downsizing, or transfers. A report on these matters is expected to be submitted to the Government and the Prime Minister in October.

Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs is required to review regulations regarding the number of deputy heads in public service units to ensure alignment with new educational models, with a completion deadline set for 2026. The Ministry of Education and Training will serve as the focal point for collecting feedback from local authorities regarding difficulties in organizing and operating these restructured institutions and will work to refine regulations on job positions, staffing levels, and teacher working conditions.
