Vietnam directs urgent reorganization of public education institutions

The Vietnamese government has issued Resolution No. 216/NQ-CP, directing local authorities to urgently complete the reorganization of public preschools, general education schools, and continuing education centers by August 30, 2026. The Ministry of Education and Training is also tasked with submitting a plan to reorganize higher education and vocational training institutions.

To address teacher shortages, the government has directed the reallocation of management staff to appropriate teaching positions. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued guidance (Document 8617/BNV-TCBC) to manage policies for leadership and support staff during this transition. This includes handling administrative records and ensuring that personnel changes do not disrupt teaching, learning, or school management activities for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The reorganization policies aim to ensure fairness and transparency, with provisions for managing staff reductions and preserving leadership allowances for those reassigned to lower-level positions or different roles.
