Vietnam Drama Theatre to relocate from aging Hanoi headquarters

The Vietnam Drama Theatre is expected to relocate from its long-standing headquarters at 1 Trang Tien in Hanoi. The current facility, which has been in use for over 40 years, is reportedly in a state of significant decay, with issues including leaking roofs and inadequate technical infrastructure for professional stage productions.

Director Kieu Minh Hieu confirmed that the theatre's representatives have participated in meetings with the Hanoi People's Committee and urban planning authorities regarding the development of the August 19 Square and the Cultural and Art Center in the Trang Tien ward.

The relocation is part of a broader cultural and sports network planning initiative for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision extending to 2045. This plan includes the construction of several key facilities, such as new venues for music, ballet, and reformed drama, intended to provide modern environments for artists and audiences.
