Vietnam e-commerce sees rise in bulky furniture sales
During the back-to-school season in Vietnam, there is a notable shift in consumer behavior toward purchasing bulky and high-value items online. While traditional shopping lists include stationery and backpacks, many families and students are now ordering large furniture such as desks, beds, cabinets, and sofas through e-commerce platforms.
Mordor Intelligence forecasts that online sales will become the fastest-growing distribution channel for furniture in Vietnam, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 13.35% through 2031. Shopee reported that in the first half of 2026, the average daily number of orders for bulky goods nearly doubled compared to the same period last year.
Improvements in logistics and delivery solutions have helped overcome previous consumer hesitations regarding high shipping costs and complex delivery processes for heavy items. Consumers have reported that large products, such as adjustable ergonomic desks, are now being delivered directly to their doors with reliable packaging and minimal delivery issues.
