Vietnam mandates e‑commerce platforms disclose livestream sales rules
The Vietnamese Government issued Decree No. 248/2026, detailing implementation of the Law on Electronic Commerce. The decree requires online platforms that provide livestream sales features to publicly disclose a comprehensive livestream sales regime, including the rights and obligations of participants, electronic identity verification procedures, seller and livestreamer registration processes, conditions for suspending streams or removing content, mandatory safety warnings for hazardous products, and clear mechanisms for handling viewer complaints.
In addition, platform operators must fulfill broader e‑commerce responsibilities such as displaying accurate information, submitting periodic online reports, removing infringing or illegal goods within 24 hours of notification, applying keyword filters, and cooperating with intellectual‑property rights holders. These measures aim to strengthen consumer protection and market order as livestream commerce expands in Vietnam.
