Vietnam economy grows 9.01% in first nine months of 2026

Vietnam's economy demonstrated strong momentum in the first nine months of 2026, with GDP growing 9.01% year-on-year. Growth accelerated significantly in the third quarter, reaching 9.95%. This performance is driven by a robust industrial and construction sector, which expanded by 11.21%, and a services sector that grew by 8.69%.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) remains a key driver, with registered FDI rising 76.4% to 50.36 billion USD and realized FDI reaching a five-year high of 21.07 billion USD. Regional growth varies, with Quang Ninh (12.54%), Hà Tĩnh (12.36%), and Hai Phong (12.08%) leading the nation in GRDP growth.

In the agricultural sector, agro-forestry-fishery exports reached approximately 56.3 billion USD. China remains a primary market, particularly for fruit and vegetables. To sustain this momentum and achieve the Communist Party of Vietnam's target of double-digit growth for the 2026-2030 period, authorities are focusing on transitioning to a development model based on productivity, science, technology, and innovation.
