Vietnam economy shows growth as aviation sector expands

Vietnam is experiencing significant economic and aviation growth. Foreign direct investment (FDI) reached $17.25 billion in the first eight months of the year, marking a 12% increase, with processing and manufacturing accounting for 82.6% of the total.

In the aviation sector, Vietravel Airlines has added an Airbus A321 (VN-A292) to its fleet to meet peak demand for late 2026 and the 2027 Lunar New Year. The airline plans to expand its domestic and international network, including new routes to Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, and Shenzhen.

Additionally, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has expanded its fleet to 20 aircraft, becoming one of the first in Vietnam to operate the Airbus A321LR, targeting medium-haul markets such as Japan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

On a regional level, Ho Chi Minh City has seen a significant rise in the Global Cities Index 2026, climbing 81 places to rank 205th, and has been named one of the top five cities to watch in the Asia-Pacific region.
