Vietnam Education Minister Hoang Minh Son Urges Authentic Learning and Testing

Education Minister Hoàng Minh Sơn told a conference of provincial education directors that the labour market is the ultimate benchmark for the quality of schooling and that honesty must be the core value of the system. He reiterated the slogan “learn truly, test truly” as a non‑negotiable directive, stressing that genuine assessment is needed to match students’ real abilities with future job demands.

The minister responded to public concerns over the integrity of the 2026 high‑school graduation exam, warning that cheating reflects deeper habits of “achievement‑obsession” and that reforms must address teacher ethics, curriculum relevance, and transparent evaluation to restore substantive educational quality.

He called for a coordinated effort from teachers, school administrators, and the Ministry to embed ethical practices, improve teacher training and compensation, and ensure that assessments accurately reflect students’ competence, thereby preparing a workforce that meets the expectations of the labour market.
