Vietnam Electricity warns of fake OTP messages targeting customers

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) issued an urgent notice about a new high‑tech phishing scheme that uses SMS messages appearing to come from “EVN CSKH”. The messages contain a fabricated six‑digit OTP and a malicious link that includes the word “evn” but points to an unrelated domain. EVN clarified that authentic OTP texts are sent only when a user logs in for the first time or verifies a transaction on the EVN CSKH app, and genuine messages never contain any links.

The utility urged customers to avoid clicking any unfamiliar links, to never share OTP codes, passwords, bank‑account or personal data, and to download the official EVN CSKH application solely from Google Play or the Apple App Store after verifying the publisher. It also provided regional hotline numbers for verification and support.
