Vietnam elevates relations with Denmark, EU, and Belgium
General Secretary and President To Lam concluded a high-level state visit to Denmark, the European Union, and Belgium from October 19 to 24. The visit, conducted at the invitation of King Frederik X of Denmark, European Council President Antonio Costa, and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, aimed to expand cooperation and strengthen ties between Vietnam and its European partners.
A significant outcome of the trip was the elevation of Vietnam-Denmark relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marking a historic milestone in their 55-year history. Denmark has positioned Vietnam as a leading partner and a strategic gateway in Southeast Asia.
Discussions focused on green and sustainable development, specifically in sectors such as smart and green seaport transport and renewable energy. The visit is viewed as a strategic move to consolidate Vietnam's foreign policy and increase its connectivity with Europe at both bilateral and regional levels.
