Vietnam enhances fishing port infrastructure and logistics
Vietnam is focusing on improving fishing port infrastructure and logistics services to enhance safety and traceability. In Khanh Hoa province, the Ca Na fishing port is undergoing a dredging project to clear silted channels. This project aims to improve vessel navigation and provide better storm shelters for fishermen during the rainy season. The dredging will be funded through socialized capital via public bidding rather than the state budget.
In Ninh Binh, the Ninh Binh Fishing Port Management Board is working to transform ports into key links in the fishery logistics chain. Efforts include maintaining 24/7 monitoring at Ninh Co, Quan Vinh, and Ha Lan anchorages to ensure safe vessel mooring and preparing for storm seasons. The board is also emphasizing technology to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing by utilizing electronic fishing logbooks and the eCDT system to monitor vessel movements and seafood origins.
