Vietnam EV market shifts focus to charging station interoperability

The Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) market is shifting its focus from infrastructure construction to network connectivity and user experience. As the number of EVs on the road grows, with VinFast projected to sell 175,000 units in 2025, the demand for a cohesive charging ecosystem is increasing.

While V-Green currently operates approximately 150,000 charging ports, a growing number of independent businesses are investing in charging points at shopping centers, gas stations, and hotels. This diversification creates a fragmented market where users often face the challenge of managing multiple separate applications to access different networks.

To address this, VETC is hosting a conference on August 14 in Ho Chi Minh City focused on the development of an open charging ecosystem. The event aims to discuss market trends, the role of connectivity platforms, eRoaming models, and the technical possibilities of interconnecting various charging networks to create a unified infrastructure.
