Vietnam expands agricultural market access through e-commerce and wholesale platforms
Vietnamese agricultural producers are increasingly adopting digital platforms to expand market access. Localities are utilizing social media and livestreaming on platforms such as TikTok Shop, Facebook, and Shopee to connect farms directly with consumers. In regions like Hanoi and Thai Nguyen, livestreams have successfully sold large quantities of products, including eggs, tea, melons, and longan, often involving local officials and content creators to drive engagement.
To further internationalize trade, the VNFruitVegMarket (Vietnam Agri Wholesale Platform) has announced the development of a new online wholesale platform. Expected to launch by late September 2026, the platform aims to facilitate large-scale transactions between Vietnamese producers and buyers in Singapore, including SMEs, retailers, and food service businesses. The initiative intends to integrate artificial intelligence and advanced logistics, including storage infrastructure in Singapore, to overcome existing challenges in international distribution and supply chain management.
