Vietnam expands diplomatic and economic cooperation with South Korea and Cuba

Vietnamese President and Communist Party General Secretary To Lam met outgoing South Korean ambassador Choi Young‑sam in Hanoi, praising the deepening Vietnam‑South Korea strategic partnership. He noted South Korea as Vietnam’s largest foreign investor and highlighted achievements in trade, defense, digital transformation, renewable energy and semiconductors, setting a goal of $150 billion in bilateral commerce by 2030.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung visited Havana as a special envoy of the Vietnamese Party, meeting President Miguel Díaz‑Canel and other Cuban leaders. He presented the outcomes of Vietnam’s 14th Party Congress, emphasized Vietnam’s role as a leading Asian investor in Cuba, and discussed joint projects in food production, renewable energy, industry, logistics and a fully foreign‑capital rice initiative. The minister reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to broaden political, economic and cultural ties with Cuba.
