Vietnam expands diplomatic and economic partnerships across Asia and beyond

Vietnam is actively strengthening its diplomatic and economic ties with a wide range of partners. The country signed agreements with Egypt to accelerate their comprehensive partnership and deepened cooperation with Laos on locating the remains of Vietnamese volunteers. Vietnam and Australia’s Western region agreed to boost cooperation in education, energy, trade, investment and technology, while relations with the Philippines were elevated to a reinforced strategic partnership during a state visit. Additional bilateral initiatives included energy and agriculture cooperation with Angola, reaffirmed ties with Denmark, and expanded police collaboration with Moscow on cyber‑crime and smart‑city security.

Domestically, Vietnam announced a pilot program for digital assets aimed at creating a transparent regulatory framework, and adopted eleven resolutions to simplify administrative procedures for businesses. At multilateral events, Vietnamese leaders highlighted regional resilience at the ASEAN Future Forum and outlined three global crises – international order, development models, and strategic trust – during the Shangri‑La Dialogue. The government also reaffirmed its prohibition of forced labour and its commitment to freedom of navigation in the East Sea.

These activities collectively illustrate Vietnam’s push to broaden its international engagement, modernise its regulatory environment, and promote regional stability.
