Vietnam expands EV charging network to cover 50% of brands and sees double‑digit GDP growth

Vietnam’s VETC charging platform has connected more than 350 stations, reaching roughly 50% of the country’s multi‑brand electric‑vehicle network just one month after launch.

The government’s economic outlook remains robust: Standard Chartered raised its 2026 GDP growth forecast for Vietnam to 9.5%, with expectations of continued expansion into 2027, while HSBC cautioned that inflation, exchange‑rate and rate pressures will test the economy in the second half of the year.

Trade ties are strengthening, highlighted by a 32% year‑on‑year increase in Vietnam’s exports to Turkey, bringing bilateral trade to $1.39 billion in the first half of 2026. Domestic sectors also posted strong results, with fertilizer exports surging 52% and revenues more than doubling to $9.32 billion, and a new Czech pork import line beginning operations at the Haiphong port.

Additional initiatives include the rollout of self‑service check‑in and baggage drops at Nội Bài International Airport, the launch of Sun Phu Quoc Airways’ Bangkok route, and a push for digital transformation in Hanoi’s governance. These moves aim to position Vietnam as a key player in regional supply chains and a growing marine‑economy power.
